FAQ

What is Happy Harriet Baby Balm?

Happy Harriet Baby Balm is a multi-purpose balm made with just six carefully selected ingredients. It’s designed for everyday moisturising and nourishing of little ones’ skin — and can be used by the whole family too.

How much Baby Balm should I use?

Start with a small amount for everyday dry skin and add more if needed. Because the balm is concentrated and waterless, you generally only need a thin layer.

For the nappy area, we recommend applying a more generous layer to help protect the skin from moisture and friction.

How long will each jar last?

This depends on how often you use it and how much you apply each time. A little goes a long way, so even our smaller jars can last longer than you might expect.

Why only one product?

We’re starting with one product, and we’re doing it intentionally. We wanted to start with one we genuinely use every day — our Baby Balm.

We believe baby skincare doesn’t need to be complicated. As Happy Harriet grows, our customers will help shape what comes next. So tell us what you think, what you wish we made and what you’d like to see next.

Is Happy Harriet Baby Balm suitable for newborns?

Our balm has no added fragrance or essential oils and is formulated to be suitable from birth. However, every baby’s skin is different, so we recommend patch testing before first use and checking with your healthcare professional if you have any concerns about using a skincare product on your baby.

Does Happy Harriet Baby Balm contain preservatives?

Our Baby Balm is a waterless balm, so it does not require the same type of preservation system used in water-based creams and lotions.

Can adults use Happy Harriet Baby Balm?

Absolutely. It’s made for little ones, but there’s no reason Mum, Dad or the rest of the family can’t use it too. It’s also suitable for dry skin.

How should I store my Baby Balm?

Store your balm below 30°C and away from direct sunlight. As the balm can soften in warm conditions, keep it somewhere cool and dry.

What if the balm gets too soft or too firm?

Because our balm is made without water and contains natural ingredients, its texture can change slightly with temperature. This is completely normal. Keep it somewhere cool during warmer weather and allow it to soften naturally if needed.

Why can the colour of my Baby Balm vary slightly between batches?

You may notice slight variations in the colour of our Baby Balm from batch to batch. This is completely normal and is due to the natural calendula-infused olive oil used in our formula. Because it’s a natural ingredient, its colour can vary depending on the calendula flowers and infusion process. No added colourants are used — just the natural colour of our ingredients.

Why has my balm gone grainy?

You may occasionally notice a slightly grainy or uneven texture in your balm. This can happen when the shea butter reacts to changes in temperature during storage, causing its natural fats to crystallise. It’s a cosmetic change only and does not affect the quality, performance or safety of the balm.

We don’t add unnecessary additives or stabilisers to our formula, keeping our balm as simple and natural as possible. As a result, natural temperature changes can sometimes affect its texture. Simply warm the balm between your hands and the grains will melt away, leaving the balm smooth and ready to use. For best results, store your balm in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat.
